MERIDIAN, Idaho — The City of Meridian has announced a new public art initiative designed to transform ordinary infrastructure into vibrant community landmarks while promoting fire safety awareness.

The "Water Colors" fire hydrant art contest, a collaborative effort between the City of Meridian, Meridian Fire Department and Meridian Firefighters Local 2311, invites people to submit artistic proposals for decorating a fire hydrant at Station 8.

The contest aims to strengthen community bonds by bringing together families, local artists, students and firefighters in a shared creative endeavor. Organizers say the initiative will beautify the city while supporting local Idaho charities and encouraging fire safety education across all age groups.
