A high-speed chase that began in Northwest Indiana ended in Chicago with the arrest of three felony theft suspects, all of whom allegedly had active warrants in Illinois.

According to a press release, the pursuit started after Hobart police issued an alert around 2 p.m. about a car allegedly involved in the theft of computers and clothing from a retail area. A Lake County Sheriff’s Department officer spotted the vehicle near 25th and Colfax in unincorporated Gary, prompting the chase.

The suspects led officers onto Cline Avenue, the Indiana Toll Road and eventually the Illinois Skyway and the Dan Ryan Expressway. During the pursuit, a Lake County Sheriff’s Department helicopter tracked the vehicle as suspects allegedly threw items from the car. The fleeing driver also stru
