MANCHESTER, N.H. —

Bryan Gould is vowing to steer clear of cases involving Casella Waste Systems and its landfill legal issues if he is confirmed to the state Supreme Court.

"I cannot imagine a scenario, after representing Casella for over 30 years, that I would ever sit on a case in which Casella, or one of its affiliates, was a client," Gould said. "If my impartiality could be reasonably questioned, then I would have to recuse myself."

The Executive Council, which is expected to vote on Gould's nomination next week, heard several hours of testimony Friday.
