FOUNTAIN, Colo. (KKTV) - The Fountain Police Department (FPD) confirmed that a reported active shooter situation on Friday near Mesa Ridge Parkway and Highway 85 had turned out to be a miscommunication.

Just before noon, Fountain police said officers received a 911 call from a man who had received text messages from his wife about an active shooter in the area of Quick Quack Car Wash, located at 6160 Timber Rail Point. Police said those texts mentioned an active shooter in the area, saying the suspect had come from Mesa Ridge High School across the street.

When the husband texted his wife back asking for a description of the shooter, police said the wife stopped responding.

FPD said officers and deputies then responded to the area and did not find any threat.
