PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - For 40 years, Relay for Life has been honoring cancer survivors, as well as those who have passed away from the disease, and showing those living with it that they are not alone.
And this year’s Relay for Life celebration in Pueblo, was one for the books.
Relay for Life in Pueblo was hosted at Runyon Sports Complex on Hobbs Field back on September 6th.
Jessica Smith was the event lead for this year’s Relay for Life, but her journey with this celebration didn’t start as a volunteer.
“I was 25 when I was diagnosed with cancer the first time, I was pregnant and I had thyroid cancer,” Smith tells 11 News.
Smith continues saying, “Just going through that alone was very overwhelming.
“It changes your life tremendously (and) gives you a whole new outlook personally.
