City police say a cyclist was critically injured Friday afternoon following a collision with a vehicle on a southwest section of Stoney Trail.

At 3:39 p.m., emergency crews responded to Stoney Trail. and 17 Avenue S.W. involving a crash between a bicycle and a vehicle. Aside from the cyclist, there were no other injuries.

Police said the adult cyclist was in critical condition.

He also said the vehicle involved was an SUV with a single occupant.

It’s resulted in multiple road closures and traffic delays in the area, with 17th Avenue shut in both directions across Stoney Tr. as well as all of its off ramps. Other road closures may be imposed, say police.
