SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - New data in the economic impact report from Visit Sarasota shows last year’s storms are still having some effect.

This report done by Downs & St. Germain Research, a market research firm in Tallahassee, compares lodging economic impact differences between this July and July of 2024.

Hotel room and vacation rental rates went up more than $20 on average. The revenue per available room, or revpar, for hotels went up 17.6% while the revpar for vacation rentals went up almost 8%.

And at the same time the average room night stay went down almost 2%.

“We are seeing that occupancy percentages are up because inventory is still a little down,” said Nancy-Jo Manney, the membership director for the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce.
