Samuel was Irish-Scottish descent. After the death of his father, he settled in Anson County, N.C. He was one of seven men recruited by Captain Twitty in Rutherford County for the Transylvania Land Company venture. These men joined with Daniel Boone’s party overcoming Indian raids to establish a company commissary, Boonesborough. Samuel was an early settler of Kentucky and also assisted in
