The technology, developed by Melbourne-based biotech OncoRevive, uses a reagent kit that mixes with a patient’s blood sample to detect tumour signals, such as DNA and proteins released into the blood.

“Our mission is to make this part of everyone’s regular annual blood test,” the company’s co-founder and CEO, Samira Sadeghi, told 7NEWS.com.au on Wednesday.

Introducing the technology at the Tech23 conference in Sydney, Sadeghi said her journey into cancer research began when she lost her father to the disease at just 20, only four months after his diagnosis.

“At the beginning, I couldn’t talk for weeks because it was so hard to accept, but out of that pain came a purpose,” she said.
