A mother whose child was allegedly raped by other youths while he was detained at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility has agreed to a $2 million settlement split between the county and the state health department, court documents indicate.

According to a motion filed Friday in the U.S. District Court of Eastern Michigan, the payout will be split, with $1.35 million coming from Wayne County and $650,000 from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

The agreement has not yet been approved by the court, which has until Oct. 1 to do so. Once approved, the MDHHS and Wayne County have 14 days to pay their respective shares.
