Porterville Mayor Greg Meister made his conservative views clear during a Republican Party of Tulare County meeting on Wednesday night.

The meeting was held as part of the Republican Party of Tulare County's tour of the county. Meister was the guest speaker at the meeting in which a standing room crowd attended at Denny's off of Highway 190.

Before he began to speak Meister was asked by someone at the meeting if Governor Gavin Newsom could be committing political suicide when it comes to the redistricting effort by him and state Democrats. Voters will decide on Proposition 50 during a special election on November 4 that would create redistricting in an effort to gain five more Democratic Congressional seats.
