The man accused of killing Charlie Kirk allegedly attempted to elicit the assistance of a friend following the assassination.

Chat messages on the social platform Discord allegedly showed 22-year-old Tyler Robinson asking a friend to collect the weapon used in the shooting from the wooded area outside the campus.

"He realised, I guess, as he was making his escape there, that he could no longer carry that with him and was hoping his friend would get involved," former FBI agent Scott Curtis told Weekend Today.

The friend made the decision not to retrieve the weapon, and it was eventually obtained by authorities.
