OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — The Michigan Court of Appeals has set two dates for an evidentiary hearing for an Ottawa County woman serving a life sentence for the death of her teenage daughter in a house fire decades ago.

Karen Boes, now 69, was convicted in 2003 of first-degree felony murder for a 2002 house fire that killed her 14-year-old daughter, Robin Boes.

In July, the Michigan Court of Appeals ordered the evidentiary hearing, after Boes presented new expert reports challenging the validity of the fire investigation and the reliability of her police interrogations.
