CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Two vigils are planned in the Lowcountry this weekend for Charlie Kirk, a conservative influencer and Turning Point founder, following his assassination.

A gunshot from a distant rooftop struck and killed Kirk while he was speaking at an outdoor event at the Utah University campus on Wednesday.

Authorities arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson for his killing on Friday.

The Berkeley County Republican and Dorchester County Republican Parties will co-host a community vigil to honor Kirk on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in Summerville’s Hutchinson Square.

Everyone is welcome to attend and take part in the event.
