WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Big E, the largest fair in the Northeast, kicked off its opening day with tens of thousands of visitors flocking to West Springfield.

Despite the traffic, attendees were eager to experience the fair, which is set to run for two and a half weeks, offering a variety of attractions and new food items.

"We work as teachers in a Spanish immersion program, so this is a good opportunity to know about the culture, everything in one place," said Carlos Garcia of Spain.

"My family lives up here. It's my third year. I just love it. Look at the beautiful hat I bought," said Lynda Koeler of Palm Beach.

The Big E is a major draw for people from all over the world, eager to experience its unique blend of entertainment, food, and shopping.
