CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- After a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education member received criticism for her comment about the death of Charlie Kirk this week, she doubled down on her ability to do so.

After Kirk, the conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was killed Wednesday, there was a series of firings or suspensions from Charlotte-area organizations. This included the Carolina Panthers and Gaston County Schools.

CMS school board member Melissa Easley posted about the killing as well on her personal social media page. She represents District 1 in northern Mecklenburg County.

On Friday, she addressed criticism to her comment, which she has since taken down.
