LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- NAACP Lansing has officially cancelled next week's City Council Candidate Forum and Mayoral Candidate Debate due to "emerging safety concerns."
"The safety and wellbeing of the candidates, branch, and community remains our highest priority. Thank you for your support and understanding. We look forward to welcoming you to other NAACP Lansing Branch events in the future," the organization wrote in a social media post.
The event, organized by the NAACP Lansing Branch Political Action Committee, was supposed to take place at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Union Missionary Baptist Church.
