ARLINGTON, Va. (KVOA) - The Department of the Air Force has announced that Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona will be the new home for the 492nd Special Operations Wing.

This decision, initially revealed in August 2023, has been updated to enhance mission effectiveness and cost efficiency. It aligns with the priorities of the Air Force and Department of War.

Units set to relocate to Davis-Monthan AFB include the 492nd Special Operations Wing Headquarters and the 319th Special Operations Squadron, both previously stationed at Hurlburt Field, Florida.

The 492nd Special Operations Theater Air Operations Squadron from Duke Field, Florida, will also move, along with a newly activated Air Combat Command Intelligence Squadron.

Additionally, Davis-Monthan AFB is now the preferred location
