BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – Deputies from the Benton County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) removed five individuals from federal power plant property near Old Inland Empire Road on Friday.
The BCSO reported that these individuals ignored multiple “No Trespassing" signs and proceeded to fish on federal property. Deputies responded to the scene and removed the group from the area.
Officers from Washington State Fish and Wildlife also responded, issuing citations for fishing in closed waters.
“In Washington, it’s illegal to fish in areas that are posted as closed, restricted, or on private property without permission. Always check the rules, follow posted signs and make sure you have the proper license,” the BCSO said.
