WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - In the aftermath of the two shootings on Wednesday, parents are wondering what might cause children to commit acts of violence.
One child psychologist has an answer: Dr. Molly Allen says social media is to blame.
Following the shooting that killed Charlie Kirk, a close-up video of the shooting circulated repeatedly on social media.
Dr. Allen says this repeated violence is making kids numb.
“It’s like rubbernecking in a car accident,” she said. “People say oh, you don’t see that every day, and they have to look at it.”
Dr. Allen cites a study analyzing teens who became suicide bombers, and she believes these shooters are becoming radicalized in a similar way.
