FORT STEWART, Ga. (WSAV) — There was a heartfelt homecoming at Fort Stewart Friday, with families, friends and fellow soldiers welcoming members of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team back to the United States.

The Brigade has been deployed for nine months in Europe.

Soldiers trained with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allies and supported the defense of the Alliance's eastern flank while away to strengthen international partnerships, officials said.

The 3rd Infantry Division held a ceremony at Cottrell Field, with a chorus of cheers, waving flags and emotional reunions as the soldier's reunited with loved ones.

Leaders said celebration highlighted the sacrifices made both overseas and here at home.
