Early in D.C. Everest coach Braden Micthell’s tenure leading the Evergreens, the team has been known for its heaving-hitting offense.
But in week four in just their second Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup of the season, it was the defense that took center stage, downing Wausau West 17-0 at D.C. Everest.
Mitchell said this week it would take a collective effort to slow the Warriors down, and from the opening play the Evergreens coaching staff received an energetic boost in all three aspects of the game.
The star of the show was the Evergreens defense.
"It was unbelievable job defensively," Evergreens coach Braden Mitchell said. "We were flying around to the ball. You can tell early on in the game, we were getting all 11 guys to the ball and that's what we've been pushing for all year
