ORONO -- The Stearns Minutemen traveled to Orono to face the Red Riots on Friday night.
At the start of the second half Stearns held the lead and the ball. Running back Cohen Raymond received the handoff and burst down the right sideline for a long touchdown score, giving the Minutemen a 38-22 lead.
On the Red Riots next possession, junior Richie Watson takes the toss and makes two Minutemen defenders miss on his way to a first down.
However, Stearns defense proved strong and senior Lucas Pelkey picked off the pass thrown by Orono quarterback Kason Bagely and returned to into Red Riots territory.
The Minutemen would hold Orono to no points in the second half and win by a score of 60-22.
Stearns (2-0) will take on Old Orchard Beach next Friday, while Orono (0-2) will face Dexter on S
