JONESBOROUGH — Every time Morristown West looked finished, it found an answer.
But the Trojans’ final chance — a two-point conversion in the last minute — slipped off the receiver’s fingertips, sealing a 29-27 loss to David Crockett on Friday night.
West battled adversity all night and nearly came through, first overcoming an early 10 point deficit. Crockett then picked off quarterback Riley McClellan for six, but McClellan came back and nearly led a game-tying drive, coming up just short on the two-point try.
While the Trojans ultimately ran out of answers, head coach Alvin Sanders was encouraged by the growth he saw from his team.
