How does one determine which player was better than another, especially when considering differing positions and eras?

Well, that's the task we gave ourselves in determining the top 100 high school football players from the Coachella Valley over the last 25 years.

For years, coaches have shared countless opinions on the subject, and it became an ongoing discussion among coaches and former players from Yucca Valley to Thermal. The talk only intensified when talking with those associated with Palm Springs, La Quinta or Palm Desert. Then, there are coaches at Xavier Prep, Shadow Hills, Indio and beyond who had starred locally and they've had opinions, too.
