Two people who had to jump from the third floor of a building to escape a three-alarm fire on the West Side of Manchester Friday night had to be taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to the Manchester Fire Department.

Fire personnel arrived at 26 Sullivan St. at 7:43 p.m. to find heavy fire coming from the second and third floors of a four-story apartment house.

Within five minutes, a third alarm had been struck and the fire department eventually had “every piece of fire apparatus in the city” on the scene, according to a press release from the Manchester Fire Department.

“During the operation, crews were forced out of sections of the building due to fire conditions and partial collapses,” the press release said.
