Jaedyn Shaw scored a goal in her Gotham FC debut to help her new club move into a third-place tie with San Diego FC by earning a 2-0 victory at San Diego on Friday.

Esther Gonzalez scored late in the first half to give her an NWSL-leading 13 on the season, while Gotham FC goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger made two saves for the shutout.

Shaw entered the match to start the second half following her $1.25 million transfer this week from the North Carolina Courage and scored on a header from near the penalty spot in the 79th minute.

Gonzalez gave Gotham FC a 1-0 lead in the 45th minute when she collected a poor clearance by San Diego FC goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan and delivered from the edge of the penalty area. A potential second Gonzalez goal late in the second half was nullified by an offside
