Mary Dolan, former executive editor of lohud.com and The Journal News, as well as the Times Herald-Record and Poughkeepsie Journal, died Sept. 10 in Hillsborough, North Carolina. She was 70.

Dolan, who served as top editor of the Hudson Valley news organizations from 2019 until her retirement in 2022, oversaw the daily news, features, opinion and sports reports. She led the newsrooms through the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic, including a major early outbreak in New Rochelle in March 2020. Dolan had also been instrumental in coverage of major news events that impacted Hudson Valley readers including disasters like Hurricane Sandy and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
