FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio -- Fairview Park Council President Michael Kilbane on Wednesday started a firestorm after posting a message on Facebook about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a Utah Valley University event.

“A lot of good people died today. Charlie Kirk wasn’t one of them,” he wrote.

Since then, the city has been inundated with responses, leading to Fairview Park Mayor Bill Schneider earlier today posting a statement on the city’s social media account.

A portion of the statement included, “Even in a country that may be divided, empathy and care for one another must endure. Respect and responsibility remain essential.
