BUHL — There might be no better way to showcase Idaho’s ag products to local chefs than to take them directly to the source.

That’s what the Idaho Department of Agriculture, as part of its Idaho Preferred Program, did Monday, transporting a busload of culinary wizards from Boise to the Magic Valley, where they viewed a ranch, grain mill, fish hatchery, ice cream shop and orchard.

The first stop on the harvest tour was G+ Ranches, owned by former ISDA director Celia Gould. After trekking through tall, green grass to get a close-up view of the Angus and white baldy cattle foraging in a pasture, the group relocated to Gould’s patio.

Gould emphasized that it is a team effort to provide diners with the best experience when eating Idaho beef.
