Health Officials Urge Residents to Avoid Unregulated 7-Oh Products Sold in Gas Stations
Health officials are warning Los Angeles County residents and health care providers about the dangers of a powerful synthetic kratom compound after three young adults died from overdoses, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health .
The County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the deaths involved 7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) , a concentrated psychoactive substance derived from kratom, a plant native to Southeast Asia. All three victims, ages 18 to 40 , were otherwise healthy and had alcohol present in their systems , but no other substances were identified as significant factors in their deaths.
