Holidaymakers were forced to evacuate an easyJet flight as emergency services were scrambled to the aircraft at Manchester Airport .

The incident happened on Saturday morning (September 13) as the flight was preparing to leave Terminal 1 for Lanzarote.

The Manchester Evening News understands the aircraft tug - a vehicle that moves planes on the ground as they do not have a reverse gear - made contact with the front wheels.

It triggered an emergency service response. No passengers were hurt, it is understood. Passengers on flight EZY 2029 were forced to disembark and board another aircraft to allow safety checks to be carried out.
