The City of Vincent wants the State Government to compulsorily acquire the long-contested Claisebrook concrete batching plant sites after a WA Planning Commission decision to relax decommissioning requirements.
Heidelberg and Holcim’s concrete plants are at 71 Edward street and 120 Claisebrook Road in East Perth.
The WAPC last month agreed to remove conditions that required the sites to be decommissioned within six months of the plants closing.
The original conditions also included contamination investigations, remediation works and the removal of structures.
Vincent mayor Alison Xamon said the changes were a setback for the city’s vision to transform the area into a high-density, mixed-use community.
