Week 3 of the high school football season provided plenty of drama around the Muskegon area, as several teams clinched heart-pounding wins in the final moments of their contests to come away on the right side of the scoreboard.

Whitehall used a 27-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Cole Essebaggers to Ayden Mendoza with 29 seconds left in regulation to seal a wild 35-28 road win over Zeeland West in non-conference action.

On the opposite side of the ball, it was the Reeths-Puffer defense coming up in clutch late in its contest at Spring Lake. The Rockets stuffed the Lakers short on fourth down at their 24-yard line with 48 seconds left to play to secure a hard-fought 35-28 win.
