Harrisburg fire crews Friday night quickly extinguished two fires at the city’s “Tent City” homeless encampment that appeared to be intentionally set, Fire Chief Brian Enterline said.
Crews were dispatched to Tent City, located along South Front Street near PennDOT’s riverfront building, around 8:45 p.m.
At least three fire trucks and about half a dozen police vehicles responded to the area.
About 15 minutes after being dispatched, crews had contained both fires.
The areas where the fires were set were close to the road, which Enterline said helped crews quickly contain the blazes.
No injuries were reported and the areas that were on fire were unoccupied.
About 20 people continue to live at the homeless encampment, Enterline said.
