ANN ARBOR, MI - It turns out most maroon and gold closets also have a spot for maize and blue.

Over 300 Central Michigan University graduates and football fans responded to an MLive survey asking if they preferred Michigan or Michigan State when not yelling “Fire Up, Chips!”

Of the 312 responses, 183 people voted for the Wolverines to make up almost 60% of the survey.

Of the remaining votes, 89 sided with the Spartans and 40 Chippewa fans proudly voted for neither.

Many of the responses supporting Michigan came from lifelong Wolverine fans who went to CMU. One fan said they will “be wearing both Maize & Blue and Maroon & Gold supporting my 2 teams.”
