What began as a riveting, back-and-forth slugfest between rivals ended in a lopsided blowout.

North Eugene made the six-mile trek across town and beat South Eugene, 58-18, on Sept. 12 in one of Lane County's more historically significant rivalry matchups. The Highlanders (2-1) bounced back quickly from last week's head-scratching loss to Corvallis, and in the process got off to a strong start in Midwestern League play.
