MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - “It looks space-aged, but it works.”
That’s how Moline Parks Director Eric Griffith describes the department’s newest tool, a brightly colored, remote-controlled device called the Goosinator.
He said the device is part of a non-lethal management strategy for controlling nuisance goose problems in public spaces and keeping parks enjoyable for families.
A big part of that is reducing the mess geese often leave behind.
Parks staff showed off the device Friday.
A remote control sends the orange-and-white goose gliding on both ground and water to scare off real geese.
The city will rotate the Goosinator between high-use areas, including Ben Butterworth Parkway and Riverside Park.
Visitors can expect to see it in action throughout the fall.
