Some Midland health workers need "customer care training", senior leaders were told.

The comment came as the board at Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust heard 112 complaints were made in June, alongside 100 messages of praise.

Increases in complaints came in departments including gynaecology, renal and orthopaedics.

A Trust board meeting heard others centred on waiting periods, "staff attitude, communication and treatment". The board heard that in certain areas “there is some customer care training to do”.

Trust bosses are addressing the time taken to handle complaints after being told outstanding grievances and response periods "remain a concern".
