The Dodgers are running out of patience with their high-priced closer. Tanner Scott, signed to a four-year, $72 million deal, admitted Friday night he is “having the worst year” of his life after giving up another late-inning loss to the San Francisco Giants.
Scott came in with the game on the line and once again couldn’t get it done. With one out in the 10th, Patrick Bailey crushed a walk-off grand slam, giving the Giants a 5-1 win and adding to the misery of an already struggling Scott.
After the loss, the 31-year-old didn’t hold back, admitting this is the toughest season of his career. “I don’t know if I’m tipping or what, but they’re on everything. It sucks … I have no friggin’ clue right now. It’s terrible. I’m having the worst year of my life. I gotta be better.”
