CLEVELAND, Ohio — Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas, sidelined since early July with plantar fasciitis in his right foot, is set to consult with a specialist in Indianapolis next week and acknowledges surgery is a possibility as his frustrating season appears to be over.

Thomas, who has appeared in just 39 games this season, spoke with reporters before Friday’s game against the White Sox about his ongoing battle with the painful foot condition.
