WOONSOCKET – It would have been hard to imagine a better opening for Dionne Track and Field on this perfect fall Friday night.

The long-awaited new home of Woonsocket’s football program hosted a capacity crowd that saw the hometown team dominate from start to finish. The Villa Novans were explosive on offense, forced turnovers at will on defense and cruised past Pilgrim in nonleague action.

Patrick Munger, Ariel Medina and Jalil Quinones Diaz were the stars, writing their names into the history books on the pristine green turf. Woonsocket built a comfortable early lead and coasted to a 39-6 win over the Patriots.
