Man charged for being unlawfully in residence

A 43-year-old Woodstock man was arrested after Brant County OPP responded to a break and enter early Friday at a residence in the county.

Police officers were dispatched to an Oakland home at about 8 a.m. and upon arrival found a man inside the residence. The homeowners didn’t know the man, said police.

Officers determined that the man was not authorized to be in the residence.

Police also learned that the man had gained entry without the homeowners’ consent.

The accused has been charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling house. He has been released from custody and is due to return to Ontario Court in October.
