Meet the Mets
Getting swept by the Phillies sure felt like rock bottom, but as we’ve experienced time and time again this year, there is always an even rockier bottom waiting. Case in point: Jonah Tong lasted just 2/3 of an inning in his start against the Rangers last night while surrendering six runs, and the Mets were immediately doomed to their seventh consecutive loss. As if that wasn’t painful enough, Jacob deGrom made his return to Citi Field and largely shut his former down over the course of seven innings. The Mets’ lead for the last wild card spot is now at just half a game. There is nothing but pain and suffering in this life.
