EAGAN, Minn. — The 2024 quarterback class tour will continue Sunday night, but this matchup has a history.
Fresh off a win over Chicago and last year's No. 1 overall pick, Caleb Williams, Minnesota quarterback J.J. McCarthy will take on Atlanta and fellow 2024 first-rounder Michael Penix Jr. this weekend at U.S. Bank Stadium.
While the two have yet to play each other since being drafted, they met up in the NCAA national championship in January 2024, when McCarthy and the University of Michigan Wolverines defeated Penix’s Washington Huskies 34-13.
“I’m extremely excited to see him again and compete against him,” said McCarthy. “He’s a great player and it’s going to be a good test for our defense.”
