Syracuse, N.Y. — Friday’s win against Colgate included the anticipated debut of Syracuse quarterback Rickie Collins Jr.

After losing his starting job to Steve Angeli in fall camp, Collins saw action for the Orange in the second half against Colgate.

Collins was excited to finally see the field. He was nervous, too, he said.

Then, on his third pass of the game late in the third quarter, he threw an interception, resulting in head coach Fran Brown temporarily benching Collins and reinserting Angeli into the game despite a huge lead.

“Kind of like jitters,” is how Collins described the throw to syracuse.com | The Post-Standard.

“That’s a bad way to get them out,” he said, “but I mean, got them out.”
