Fayetteville police are investigating after an individual reportedly lying on railroad tracks was killed by an oncoming train downtown.
According to a news release, the incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, in the 100 block of Hillsboro Street near Hay Street and the Fayetteville Amtrak Train Station.
“The investigation revealed that the victim was lying on the train tracks as the train approached. The train attempted to stop but was unable to come to a complete stop before striking the person,” the release said.
