Police in Elkhart are searching for a stolen truck and two suspects following an early-morning shooting on the city’s west side.
The incident happened around 5:15 a.m. on Saturday, Sep. 13, at a home in the 2300 block of West Mishawaka Road. Elkhart Police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting with injuries.
When officers arrived, they found a 51-year-old man with a gunshot wound. First responders provided aid at the scene before transporting the man to a local hospital, where he is being treated for what police believe are non-life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, the victim confronted a masked man who was attempting to break into his vehicle. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly shot the victim in the leg, then fled the scene with a female s
