BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Birmingham Police Department held a press conference on Saturday, Sept. 13 to announce an arrest in the shooting death of 82-year-old Aldorthia Burrell .
Burrell was shot in the head and killed on her front porch in Birmingham’s West End community on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
Police say that Burrell was hit by a stray bullet during an exchange of gunfire that they believe happened during a disagreement. Burrell was not the intended target, she was just sitting on her front porch.
Neighbors remember Burrell as a “kind, quiet woman who kept to herself and never cause trouble.”
Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama raised the reward for information in her death to $10,000 on Tuesday, Sept. 9 after there was not a single tip sent in.
