KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - It’s official- Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy is out for Sunday’s home opener.

The 2024 first-round draft pick’s status has been shaky since he dislocated his shoulder during Kansas City’s season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.

He returned to practice on Sept. 11, but head coach Andy Reid said his chances of playing at Arrowhead on Sept. 14 were “slim.”

“Xavier did a little bit of team work,” Reid said of Worthy’s participation during Friday’s practice session, “but that was it.”

The team confirmed the news in a social media post Saturday morning.

Worthy was expected to lead the offense’s receiving room while teammate Rashee Rice observes a six-week suspension.

Chiefs WR Jalen Royals was also ruled out with a knee injury.
